School Council Report

Hello MGSC Community!

As a current Department of Education representative on the MGSC College Council, I am pleased to contribute to this edition of the MGSC newsletter.  

I have been a proud member of the MGSC community since my arrival in 2009 as Director of Curriculum. Thirteen years ago I became an Assistant Principal and with that came my role on College Council. Most of this time I have been a non-voting member, joining other Assistant Principals in providing updates/information when required. For the past two years I have been a voting member of Council and joined parent representatives, community coopted representatives and student representatives on Council.

My experience on Council has been a wonderful professional development experience, but more importantly an opportunity to make a real contribution to the future direction of our school.  I have been fortunate to be in the company of a passionate, caring and uniquely qualified team who have advocated strongly on the behalf of our students. I have been amazed by the contribution of our student representatives, each of whom have brought a unique perspective to Council. We are all equals on Council and the  friendly team approach has had a real and lasting impact for our school.

It is time for Council elections. I hope parents and students will give serious thought to nominating for a position on the 2025 College Council.

We are a friendly team who have our students at the centre of all we do.
