Making a World of Difference: Discovering Caritas Australia

Our school is proud to support Caritas Australia, an international aid and development agency of the Catholic Church in Australia. You might have heard about their work, especially during our Project Compassion fundraising efforts, but we wanted to share a little more about the incredible impact they make.

What Does Caritas Australia Do?

Caritas Australia works with communities around the world to alleviate poverty, promote justice, and uphold dignity. They focus on long-term development, empowering people to create sustainable solutions for themselves. Their vital work includes:

  • Emergency Relief: Providing immediate support after natural disasters and conflicts.
  • Sustainable Development: Supporting projects in areas like agriculture, education, and healthcare.
  • Advocacy: Working to address the root causes of poverty and injustice.

Why is their work important?

Caritas Australia believes in the inherent dignity of every person and strives to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. They partner with local communities, ensuring that their programs are culturally appropriate and meet the specific needs of the people they serve.

How does our school support Caritas Australia?

Through events like our Easter hat parade and Easter raffle, our school community comes together to raise funds and awareness for Caritas Australia's vital work. We aim to instill in our students a sense of global citizenship and a commitment to social justice.

How can you support Caritas Australia at home?

  • Talk to your children about the importance of helping others and the challenges faced by people living in poverty.
  • Visit the Caritas Australia website (caritas.org.au) to learn more about their projects and the people they support.
  • Continue to support our school's fundraising efforts, and encourage your children to participate.
  • By supporting Caritas Australia you are helping to build a more just and compassionate world.

We thank you for your generous donations to our Easter raffle and purchasing raffle tickets in support.
