Grade 4

The grade 4 students have made a wonderful start to the year, they thoroughly enjoyed our Setting Up for Success program. The students explored themselves, what they have in common with others and how we can work together to ensure we have a great year. Each class has created a set of expectations and a class goal to work towards throughout the year. They have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the Friendology program and have started to learn more about being friends with themselves and strategies to support their friendships. 

In English, students have been exploring the routines and expectations of the Reading and Writing workshop. The students explored what good readers and writers do and how writing pieces are created. Students have also been looking at poems where they have learnt about calligrams, haiku’s and limericks. Self-assessing their favourite style and publishing their preferred piece. 

In Mathematics, the students have been playing a variety of games using their number knowledge. The grade 4 students have used hands on materials to support their place value knowledge and work with larger numbers. They have begun working with fractions and demonstrating their knowledge.
