Maths Fun

All Year 7-9 students have been provided with access to Mathletics. Students can work on building their skills at home and in the classroom. 

Mathletics Australia is an online mathematics learning platform designed for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

It provides a comprehensive and engaging way to learn math through interactive activities, personalised learning paths, and detailed progress tracking, aiming to improve math skills and confidence for students of all abilities.

Key points about Mathletics Australia: 

• Focus on student engagement: It uses gamified elements like avatars and competitions to keep students motivated.  
• Adaptive learning: Tailors content to individual student needs, adjusting difficulty level based on performance.  
• Comprehensive curriculum: Covers all key math concepts across primary and secondary school levels.                

QuickSmart Numeracy

At Scoresby Secondary College, we are very proud to have an intervention program that supports our student's learning growth and confidence.

Overview: The QuickSmart Numeracy intervention program focuses on understanding and recalling basic number facts, performing elementary calculations, acquiring appropriate mathematics language, and problem-solving skills. The primary aim of QuickSmart is for the students to develop automaticity. QuickSmart lessons emphasise the development of conceptual understanding. Conceptual understanding is ensured by explicitly teaching strategies that emphasise the key concepts underpinning the academic skills being taught. 

The Australian Research Council (ARC) awarded QuickSmart the highest ratings in the field of Education on research Engagement and Impact in its national assessment of research contribution to the broader community and the economy.
