What we are learning...

MATHEMATICS

During Fluid Maths we have worked on using addition and subtraction to assist us in problem solving and we are beginning to adapt multiplicative thinking to our toolkit!

Our Applied Mathematics lessons have focused on identifying and classifying angles in real life. We looked at angles in sports, our classroom, our school and all over the place!

We've been awesome at identifying angles including right, acute, obtuse, straight, reflex and full rotations!

During our Problem-Solving sessions, we enjoyed investigating number patterns and tried our hand at some basic algebra! It was a fantastic challenge that we really enjoyed.

LITERACY

Our focus for both Reading and Writing has been on identifying cool connectives. We have explored more advanced connectives in the texts we read and practised using these in our writing. We learned about up-levelling simple sentences into more engaging compound sentences by using connectives!

Improving our fluency when we read aloud has been another focus for us during reading. We learned about reading in larger phrases, using intonation (rise and fall of our voice), prosody (rhythm) and ensuring our pace is just right. We have enjoyed practising using these skills during our 'Read to Someone' time. By learning about connectives, we are much better at knowing when to pause when we read in larger phrases.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

During our mornings, we have enjoyed engaging in some 'Ready to Learn' activities. We love doing yoga, trivia, scattergories, yarning circles and fun challenges. It helps get our brains and our bodies ready for the day and promotes a healthy growth mindset!

Our focus for RRRR this fortnight is to identify and use 'relaxation techniques' to manage stress. We identified situations that cause us worry or frustration and how we can manage our emotions.

Our Upstander lesson focus was all about creating a personal "Help Plan" to know who to talk to and steps to take when experiencing or witnessing bullying.
