Welcoming our Japanese Homestay Students

King's College would like to officially welcome our Japanese Homestay Students from Shibuya High School in Tokyo, Japan. The students will be arriving next week on Wednesday 12th March, and attending King's each day until 24th March. A big thank you to the families who are participating in this year's homestay program and hosting a Japanese student.

Harmony Day – Friday 21st March

On Harmony Day we enjoy recognising the rich cultural tapestry that makes our community and our country so special, and Australia one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world.

This years’ Harmony Day theme of "Everyone Belongs", encourages us to embrace and appreciate the unique traditions, backgrounds, and the cultural heritage of each person. We can gain an understanding about different food, music, storytelling, and engage in meaningful conversations through class discussions and interactions. This day provides an opportunity to connect and learn from one another.

If any student/s would like to perform a short dance, song, share a cultural artifact or explain interesting knowledge of their heritage, we will organise a lunchtime concert on Friday 21st March. Please contact your Homeroom teacher or a Wellbeing team member (Mr Wakim, Mrs McLeod, Mr Leach & Mrs Robinson).

Students and Staff are encouraged to wear orange on Friday 21st March - the official color of Harmony Day - or come dressed in the colours of the flag of your heritage or wear a traditional form of clothing as a symbol of unity and respect for our different cultural backgrounds. Please also bring along a Gold Coin Donation that will go towards Ararat Christian School in Kampala, Uganda.

Thank you for your support in celebrating our wonderfully diverse global backgrounds here at King's College.

Our Learning Support Team

We have a wonderful team of Learning Support Staff at King's College. In the latest Newsletters we are sharing a little about some of them, to help build connections between them and our students, parents and the wider School community.

Iesha Kenna

This will be my third year working in Education Support, and I have had the opportunity to work with both the Year 1 - 3 and 4 - 6 Gideon classes. This year, I am excited to begin my studies in primary education. Additionally, I’m thrilled to be choreographing the school musical, The Hello Girls. In my free time, you’ll most likely find me at a dance studio or rehearsing for a show.

I’m currently in the Junior Gideon room, Year 4/5 and some of the Year 7 - 9 classes down in the Senior school. I’m studying my masters of primary teaching this year. I went to King's in primary school and am excited to be back but seeing a different perspective now. When I’m not at school or studying, I love sports and keeping fit. I do Surf Life Saving competitively which consists of swimming, kayaking and board paddling down at the beach, even when it’s windy and cold!
