Dear Parents and Carers,
It's hard to believe we are heading into Week Nine, but when you look around the classrooms and see the calm, focused and engaged students, you can see the great growth they have made in their learning already in the one term.
Our Staff are engaged in a variety of professional learning and development initiatives as part of the Magnify Program being implemented by Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd (CESL) across all schools in the diocese. The Magnify Program draws on evidence-based research to inform choices of programs, initiatives and strategies to be used in schools, including Sacred Heart School. Sacred Heart School staff have been actively engaging and participating in all of the learning opportunities, as well as positive discussions and planning for your child's learning.
This year at Sacred Heart we have introduced new and continued leadership positions to assist in the implementation of Magnify. They are -
Celeste Oliver - Catholic Identity Leader
Marie Nagy - Mathematics Leader
Kaysie Stephens - Literacy Leader
Joe Quinn - Mental Health in Primary Schools Leader
Families are also reminded of the Sacred Heart School uniform. We particularly ask you to check that students are wearing navy shorts/pants that have no logos on them as well as navy socks.
Students have received reminders about the Sacred Heart School uniform policy in recent weeks and parents and carers are asked to review the expectations and speak with the school if they require any support in their child/ren in wearing the correct school uniform.
Basic navy items that are a part of our school uniform can be purchased from stores such as Kmart.

Please see the calendar section of the newsletter and the below pictures that outline a variety of upcoming events at Sacred Heart School.
Parent & Carer Community Group
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend or send in apologies for our first Parent & Carer Community Group meeting. All Parents & Carers are welcome to attend these meetings at any time, even if you can't commit to attending all, you're most welcome. While the role of the P & C is vast, one aspect is fundraising for the school. This year the P & C will raise funds that will be used towards the improvement of the school playground. Our P & C are calling for bakers and helpers at the upcoming MFSR re-enactment. Letters went home with the oldest member of each family, please let our admin team know if you require another copy.
Parents and Carers are invited to join our P & C Community Group Facebook Page which can be accessed by searching - Sacred Heart School Parent & Carer Community.
Our P & C Community Group are also running a Fundraiser for First Aid kits. We did the same fundraiser two years ago with great success, as the First Aid kits are a fantastic resource to have at home and you can even use the same company to restock anything you have used up since last time. Please feel free to share any of our school Facebook posts that reference our Fundraisers on your own pages.
Harmony Day
Students are invited to wear something orange in celebration of Harmony Day on Friday the 21st of March. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available for the Corryong Community at Sacred Heart School
With thanks to Lisa Pilli for her wearing of a variety of hats in the community (including Sacred Heart School Learning Support Officer and Corryong ACO - Ambulance Victoria) and working with a variety of local organisations to assist in the purchase of the AED. The AED is accessible for all in the community and can be found on the wall of the staff car park. At Sacred Heart School Staff receive annual training for CPR and understand the benefits of having an AED accessible in the event of ever needing to perform CPR.
Thank you to the Towong Shire, Corryong Rotary Club and Ambulance Victoria for their contributions to the purchase of the device.

Learn to save a life in Corryong - Ambulance Victoria
Corryong locals are invited to attend the Corryong Skatepark opening on Saturday where they can learn how to use an AED with Ambulance Victoria.
The Man From Snowy River Bush Festival
As well as our Sacred Heart School Cake Stall at the re-enactment on the Friday, Sacred Heart Students are invited to participate in the Parade on the Saturday. To help us gauge participants and interest, please email our admin@shcorryong.catholic.edu.au or respond on the school Facebook page.
Lenten Prayer
Throughout Lent at Sacred Heart School, we raise funds for Project Compassion who provide opportunities and resources to communities internationally who are in need. So far we have raised funds through our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day and will continue through our weekly Zooper Dooper Wednesdays. Any families who wish to donate can do so via sending cash into school or by donating online.
