Library News

Term 1 is well and truly underway and we have hit the ground running. Library staff have been busy with library instruction classes during Reading Room with Years 7 and 8. It has been fantastic to answer so many questions about the library and see excitement amongst the shelves as students discover what’s available to borrow from our collections.
A friendly reminder to all students that the library has a few rules to follow:
- No food or drinks are allowed inside the library (except for water bottles).
- School bags are to be left outside the library.
- If you have a lesson scheduled in the library, please line up to enter and wait for your teacher to bring your class inside.
- Any student sent to the library must have a class pass from their teacher.
The library is a safe and inclusive space for everyone to use where positive language and behaviours are expected.
Ebooks and audiobooks available on every student’s laptop
Ebooks and audiobooks are available on every students’ laptop, to borrow anytime. Sora is the student reading app and one way to access it is through the St Joseph’s College Library catalogue.
To get to the Library catalogue students can:
- Go to Compass.
- Click on “School Favourites” (star icon on top toolbar).
- Scroll down to “Library Catalogue”.
- Click on “Reading Room Board” (under “Quick Links” top left of screen).
- Click on Sora and follow the instructions.
Borrow and open books with one tap to read anywhere at any time, adjust font size and page colour to be more readable, and access collections. The app can also be downloaded free through the app store.
