NAIDOC WEEK 2026 - 50 YEARS OF DEADLY
This year, we warmly invite our school community to join us for our upcoming NAIDOC Week assembly as we proudly celebrate the NAIDOC theme, “50 Years of Deadly,” recognising the strength, pride and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples over the past 50 years. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will be at the heart of this celebration, sharing their voices, culture, and what makes them deadly within our school community.
Date: Monday, 29th June
Time: 12:30 pm
Location: St Edward's Primary School, Hillvue Road
Following the assembly, we invite all families, visitors and special guests to join us for a sausage sizzle. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect and celebrate together as a community.
We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.

Year 4 Cultural Immersion: Burrulaa Garay
During Term 1, our Year 4 Cultural Immersion group, Burrulaa Garay (Lots of Talk), explored the importance of Aboriginal languages, language groups, and how we can all play a role in protecting and preserving them. Students also learnt about the differences between an Acknowledgement of Country and a Welcome to Country, and why both are significant.
To conclude the term and unit, students created their own Acknowledgements of Country, thoughtfully reflecting on the elements of Country that are important to Aboriginal people.
