National Simultaneous Storytime 2026

This week we participated in National Simultaneous Storytime 2026, a wonderful Australia-wide literacy event that celebrates the joy of reading.
This year’s story is Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, a delightful and engaging text that was read simultaneously in schools, libraries and homes across the country at 12:00pm AEST on Wednesday 27 May.
All classes took part in this shared reading experience, joining thousands of students across Australia in enjoying the same story at the same time. It was an amazing opportunity to promote a love of books, build excitement around reading, and foster a sense of connection through storytelling.
In the lead-up to the event, students have also been engaging in a range of classroom activities connected to the story, helping to build their comprehension, vocabulary and enjoyment of literature.
We encourage you to talk with your child about the story and continue to support their reading at home. Sharing books together—whether reading to, with, or alongside your child—remains one of the most powerful ways to support their learning.
