Meaningful Opportunities

Stepping Into The da Vinci Decathlon

An initiative of Knox Grammar School, the da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to extend and challenge students. Teams compete across ten disciplines: Engineering, Mathematics, Code Breaking, Art and Poetry, Science, English Ideation, Creative Producers, Cartography and Legacy. The competition demands focus, precision and adaptability, requiring students to decode complex ciphers, write original poems based on strict themes, ideate creative solutions to given problems, craft impromptu dramatic performances and many other tasks under tight time constraints.

Thursday 7 May

Twenty four Year 7, 8 and 9 students boarded a bus with Mr Barnes, Mrs Lefevre and Mr Kennedy, ready to compete in the prestigious da Vinci Decathlon at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School. With eight students forming each team, the day saw students working independently across all ten disciplines.

We were proud of how each team approached the challenge, showing strong thinking, creativity and teamwork throughout the day. A highlight was our Year 9 team, who were awarded first place in the Legacy discipline. It was also encouraging to see such strong interest from students keen to represent the School.

Tuesday 12 May

Mr Kenner and Mrs Kimpton accompanied sixteen Year 5 and 6 students to Korowa Anglican Girls’ School for their da Vinci Decathlon. Students embraced the challenge and relished the opportunity to apply their learning beyond the classroom. Both year levels achieved podium finishes across several disciplines, with the Year 5 team celebrating a win in the Ideology discipline.

We congratulate every student involved. The way they embraced the experience, supported each other and stepped up when it counted speaks to who they are becoming. These experiences reflect something deeper than performance or results. It shows the kind of young people Peninsula Grammar is shaping.
