Jonah's Druthers
Dear Families,
Preparations for the whole school musical 'Jonah's Druthers' are well underway. Classes have begun learning songs and simple choreography, and we hope your children are busy getting the songs stuck in your heads at home. Our Year 6 students are hard at work preparing for their lead roles. The Choir and Dance Troupe have begun rehearsing their parts in the musical too.
Please check the following pages for costume requirements for your child, due at school by Tuesday 10th June. (Please note addition of Dance Troupe costume details and some clarifications or Year 6 costumes since last Musical News.)
What is the musical about- Jonah’s Druthers retells the Bible story of Jonah in a Wild West setting. The musical follows Jonah as he is called by God to bring a message to the city of Nineveh and struggles with the decision to obey. As the story unfolds, Jonah faces challenges around trust and responsibility, learning that doing the right thing can be difficult but meaningful. Through his experiences and encounters with others, the story highlights themes of listening to God, showing compassion, and acting with courage. The production explores key Christian values and emphasises that God’s love is for everyone, while showing how faith and obedience can shape a person’s character and sense of purpose.

As a start, please add the following performance dates and times to your calendar:
- Wednesday 1st July, 6.30pm
- Thursday 2nd July, 6.30pm
Our performances will be held at Futures Church South in Old Reynella and more details will follow regarding arrangements. It is an expectation that the whole school will be a part of both performances.
