Ryan's Rambling

Dear Families,

We are now approaching the pointy end of the year. Can you believe that there are only four weeks remaining? So much to do in that time…

We are incredibly excited by the progress with our Community Mural! Stephanie has worked diligently across the week and even in the early stages, it is apparent the difference this will make to our oval space.  On the 8th of December, we will host an official opening of the mural, from 3pm onwards. We are hoping that as many families and community members as possible can come together, bring a picnic lunch, listen to some live music, and celebrate our amazing school together. An official Welcome to Country will kick off proceedings at 3pm, so please be there, if you can.

This week, we began our whole school transition process, to select classes for 2026. As many of you will know, our school dedicates hours over many weeks to trial different class combinations, to ensure we get the very best fit and balance across the school. This can be a time when children, and some families, can experience worry or stress. Please be reassured, that our school has worked hard to ensure there is consistent practice across all classrooms at Dana Street.  Each child is guaranteed at least one person from their ‘Bus’ in their class next year.

Our 2026 Teachers will be as follows:

Foundation x1 – Kym Bursill

1/2 Unit x2 – Kelly Kosloff, Sarah Schroen

3/4 Unit x3 – Sam Bell, Jess Norris, Kate McMillan/Brooke Cowan

5/6 Unit x3 – Sam Peeters, Xavier Jones/Emma Remilton, Kellie Healy/Airlie Penny (post maternity leave)

Specialist Team x4 – Emma Remilton, Claudine Lagier, Bec Wong, Dee Clark

We are confident that our teaching teams will continue to build on success from this year.

Requests for specific teachers will only be considered in very exceptional circumstances and there are no guarantees that requests will be granted. If you would like to submit a request, it must be forwarded to me in writing, by Friday 28th November. Please note that we do not accept requests for certain children to be with each other. Whilst this may seem a little strict, it is necessary to enable our staff to balance our classes accordingly.

Looking at the weather forecast, it seems as if it's going to get warm for a few days, then cool off again. It’s almost as if mother nature is teasing us somewhat.

Enjoy your weekend.

Ryan 😊
