Principal's Report

Dear SEPS Families,

A very big thank you to our wonderful SEPS social members for organising a beautiful morning tea to celebrate World Teachers Day this morning. This day has been set to ‘honour teachers for their dedication, hard work and the impact they have on shaping the futures of students’. I would like to acknowledge our wonderful staff here at SEPS. I have taught in the catholic, private and public sectors in both primary and secondary settings and I tell everyone I meet that SEPS is one of the greatest teams that I have had the privilege to work with. The passion, dedication and commitment to providing the best education for our students, is second to none.

Market Day

Congratulations to our Year 6 team for a wonderful market day last week. The school was buzzing with anticipation and excitement, and the stall and activities did not fail to impress. The huge smiles on everyone’s faces said it all. I was so impressed to see the Year 6 students step up on the day and deliver their fantastic business ideas. A big thank you also to the Year 6 parents who assisted. Set up and pack up alone was a massive feat.

Margot won Principal for the Day and spent today with me in the office. Here is her report:

Hi , I am Margo and this is my day as a principal. First I had to begin with writing this newsletter. I then started off by creating symbols on playing cards for maths. When I got back from recess I got to visit the second hand uniform shop and I stocked up the printer. After that I went to visit the grade 6 classes. I had to feed Meanie and then at the beginning of lunch I did the announcements. Then I had collect the coins and hand out tokens. I had to check the weather to make sure it wasn't raining for play time. I called a rainy day timetable but at 2pm it stopped and we were allowed to go out. Being a principal is really fun. I am surprised at how much you have to work on the laptop.

Transition

A reminder that any requests regarding your child’s friendship choices for next year need to be emailed to me by FRIDAY 7 NOVEMBER - sandringham.east.ps@education.vic.gov.au

Requests CANNOT  be considered after this date for any reason. Please do not email your child’s complete friendship list for them – the teachers collect this information with their own class. Please also note that I do not take requests for specific teachers.

I am very pleased to announce that Wilko has made a speedy recovery (apart from a very sore shoulder) and was back in fine form this morning, greeting all of our students as they entered the yard!

Wishing you all a happy Halloween if you are planning to engage in ‘Trick or Treating’ this evening. I remember wishing that we celebrated Halloween when I was young, more for the dressing up (I disliked lollies even as a child). Now it appears to be part of the norm here in Australia. It is interesting how traditions and culture can change in such a relatively short time. We are secretly delighted that Halloween is a Friday so that we won’t have the sugar 'hangovers' here at school this year but we hope that everyone has a bit of fun.

Have a wonderful fortnight ahead.
