Dear St John’s Community,
We have been able to finalise the classes for 2026. They will be as follows:
1x Prep, 4 x Grade 1/2, 3 x Grade 3/4 and 3 x Grade 5/6.
Now that we have the grade structures, the work will begin on planning which teachers will be in those grades and then the class allocations can begin. We will also be looking for one or two new staff members as Mr Coburn is not returning in 2026 and Miss Klimek has also accepted a position at another school, which is closer to where she now lives after buying a house this year. She has been a great asset in the Grade 3/4 space this year and a very promising young teacher. I have no doubts, she will be missed.
I'd also like to announce some position changes in the school:
Mr Dean Lefebvre has been renewed as the Science & Technology Leader.
Mrs Emma Clarke is now the Maths Leader for the P-2 levels, and Mrs Eva Wheeler for 3-6.
Ms Lyn Hoysted is taking on the Mental Health and Wellbeing in Primary Schools (MHiPS) position at the school. This is a two-year government-funded position to promote and support staff in learning how to better support student mental health and wellbeing. This will connect to another day in a student wellbeing support capacity.
Finally, I have a very special announcement that is, but isn't a secret!

If you were not already aware, Mrs Jeannine Johnston, our wonderful and illustrious office admin manager, is retiring at the end of this year. How rude!!! Just because she's put 25 years into this school, she thinks she can just up and retire! All jokes aside, it is going to be a very bittersweet finish to the year, knowing that everything she does now is for the last time. She will be dearly missed. Keep an eye out for some future celebrations around this momentous occasion.

"I sign thee with the sign of the cross and confirm thee with the chrism of salvation, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost."
Please remember the students who will be completing their Confirmation this weekend. They have been working hard to prepare themselves for this blessed Sacrament on Sunday at St John's Church.
O Lord Jesus Christ,
Grant them the Spirit of Wisdom, that they may aspire for the things in this world that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding, to enlighten their minds with the light of Your truth, the Spirit of Right Judgment, (Counsel) that they may always choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven,
the Spirit of Fortitude, that they may bear their cross with You, and that they can overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose their salvation,
the Spirit of Knowledge, that they may know God and know themselves and grow more perfect in the science of the Saints,
the Spirit of Piety, that they may find peace and fulfilment in the service of God while serving others,
the Spirit of Wonder and Awe, (Fear of the Lord) that they may be filled with a loving reverence towards God.
Teach them, dear Lord, to be your faithful disciples and animate them in all things.
Amen.

It is a requirement for all students to wear hats in Term 1 and Term 4. Children's skin is more sensitive to UV damage than adults and protecting students from harmful UV rays is a core part of keeping them safe at school.
The school has a No Hat, No Play policy during these terms. If students do not have a hat or lose their hat, they are required to remain in shaded areas.
Please note that Kelly Sports returns next term. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in some fun filled outdoor activities for their children one night after school each week next term. This time around they are also offering a Friday lunchtime Dance Class in the hall.
Please see the flyer attached.
