Principal's Message

It’s been another busy and exciting fortnight at Lakes Entrance Secondary College, with plenty of opportunities for our students to connect their learning to the real world.

One of the highlights for me was accompanying a group of students on the Boating Industry Immersion Day excursion, where they toured local workplaces and gained insight into potential career paths within the boating and marine sector. It was fantastic to see our students engaging with industry professionals, asking great questions, and recognising the opportunities that exist right here in our own region.

I also had the pleasure of visiting the Koorie Men’s Shed, where some of our Koorie students have been producing outstanding woodwork projects. The pride and craftsmanship on display were impressive, and it’s clear that the students are developing valuable practical and teamwork skills through this program.

This week our 2026 Year 12 students have begun their Headstart Program, marking an important transition as this year’s Year 11s step up into their final year of school. It’s been great to hear how seriously they are taking this opportunity to get a jump on their Year 12 program and to set strong foundations for next year. A special shout-out goes to our 2026 Year 12 VCE-VM students, who are undertaking a real-life project to freshen up the Year 12 common space. Before picking up a paintbrush, the students worked collaboratively to design a proposal, budget for materials, and plan the project. I can’t wait to see the finished result — a space they can be proud of and one that reflects their initiative and teamwork.

Finally, I want to remind all students and parents that once a student is on-site, they are expected to remain on-site until the end of the school day unless signed out by a parent or carer. Students must not walk down the street during recess or lunch breaks. This expectation is in place to support our duty of care and ensure effective emergency management — we must always know where students are in case of an emergency. Your support in reinforcing this message at home is greatly appreciated.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support in helping us build a school community that reflects our values of Respect, Trust and Try — values we strive to see in every classroom, every interaction and every opportunity our students take on.
