Staying Safe and Well Over the School Holidays

As we reach the end of another big year, it’s completely normal for students and families to feel tired, stretched and ready for a break. The school holidays offer a much-needed chance to rest, recharge and enjoy some time away from the busy routine of school life. We want to acknowledge the hard work, resilience and growth shown by all of our students this year, we are incredibly proud of them.

The holidays are a great opportunity for young people to look after their wellbeing and reset before the new year begins. Here are a few simple self-care ideas students might find helpful:

Self-Care Ideas for the Break

  • Rest and sleep: Allow your body to catch up. A consistent sleep routine can boost mood, concentration and energy.

  • Spend time outside: Fresh air, sunshine and movement can work wonders for mental health.

  • Connect with friends and family: Positive social interactions can lift motivation and reduce stress.

  • Limit screen time when possible: Taking breaks from social media can help reduce pressure and improve overall wellbeing.

  • Do activities you enjoy: Reading, drawing, sports, music, baking, gaming, anything that feels relaxing or fun.

  • Have some structure: Keeping a loose daily routine can help maintain balance without feeling overwhelming.

Staying Safe

Please encourage your young person to:

  • Make safe choices when out with friends
  • Keep you informed about where they are and who they are with
  • Travel in groups and stay in well-lit public places
  • Be mindful around water, roads and parties
  • Reach out if something doesn’t feel right, they’re never alone
