STEM 

Week 4

Preps this week continued to explore movement. They undertook a guided investigation on how different sized objects roll.  

Grade 1/2s continued to explore forces. They played a boardgame that when they landed on a square, they had to tell their partner whether the force of push or pull was being used. 

Grade 3/4s identified heat sources. 

Grade 5/6s used clip circuits to create working electrical circuits.  

 

Week 5

Preps had rotational challenge week tasks. One activity was to use blocks to create a maze for Sphero robots to go through, controlled by students on the iPads. The other activity was to use provided materials to create a building for a ghost (Halloween-themed).

Grade 1/2s continued exploring pushes and pulls. They undertook investigations on the forces used in the following experiment stations: toy cars on ramps, making shapes with Play-Doh and forces with magnets.

Grade 3/4s had rotational challenge week tasks. One activity was to use problem-solving skills to complete some STEM Escape Room challenges. The other activity was to use provided materials to create a building for a ghost (Halloween-themed) with a partner.

Grade 5/6s had rotational challenge week tasks. One activity was to use problem-solving skills to complete some STEM Escape Room challenges. The other activity was to use provided materials to create a Spider Web Bridge (Halloween-themed).
