School Council Report

Meeting held Thursday 23rd October, 2025

Dear BRPS Community,

 

Our latest School Council meeting was held on Thursday 23rd October, 2025.

 

President Laura Anderson opened the meeting with the acknowledgment of the Traditional Custodians of the land, prior to the discussion of agenda items. 

 

Key updates from the meeting included: 

Finance Committee: Cheryl Toner

  • All relevant Finance reports for the month of August and September were accepted by School Council.
  • Parent payments are vital for our school. Contributions down slightly in 2025 compared to previous years. 
  • Parent Payment Arrangements will be finalised and communicated to the school community by Thursday 6th November. Very few changes to 2025 arrangements. 

Policy and Education: Emily Harvey

Emily thanked the Education Subcommittee and Councillors for their ongoing commitment and attention to detail for reviewing policies ready for presentation or endorsement at School Council meetings. The most recent policies reviewed and updated include: 

  • Child Safety Risk Register
  • WWCC Register
  • Curriculum Framework Policy

Building & Grounds Committee: Sam Tyndall

Multiple VSBA-led works, routine and emergency maintenance, annual contracts and cyclical upgrades continue to progress across the school.  Items of note include: 

  • Dingley Recycled Water Project - cost prohibitive - $150-300k 
  • New blinds and carpet in Year 1 rooms,  new carpet in Chinese Room. 
  • VSBA ramp works completed and signed off. 

     

VSBA Capital Works Fund

Grant application submitted for redevelopment of staffroom and dedicated professional learning and meeting space to provide a modernised work and meeting space for BRPS staff and also for hosting other meetings, such as School Council and visiting educators. Applications are currently being assessed, we expect to find out more in Term 4.  

Community Engagement & Events (CEET)/Fundraising: Cass Morgan

  • Moonlight Cinema was a wonderful success and a great community event. 
  • Thank you for the World Teachers' Day Recognition and special morning tea. 
  • Suggested events and dates were set for 2026. 
  • Colour Run and Community Picnic proposed for 2026 Term 1, Week 5. 

Principal's Report: Sam Tyndall

  • 2026 Funding and Class Structure - our overall funding from the Department impacts class structure, we're intending to run 20 classes next year.   
  • 2026 will be a School Review year where the school will have an opportunity to reflect on our progress against the current four-year Strategic Plan and develop our next Strategic Plan 2026-2030.  
  • Child Safe Standards and Minimum Standards Review - completed with full compliance. 
  • Reviewed the new Digital Learning Policy related to BYOD programs in schools. This change does not affect BRPS.
