Grade 3/4
Grade 3and 4 students have been exploring chemical reactions this week. In small groups, students have been carrying out experiments to show how yeast uses sugar to make new products. We have also been breaking down what different molecules are made of and how CO2 is produced and can blow up a balloon.

Grade 5
Our grade 5 students have been busy designing their own acid and base experiments. Students have been learning about the concepts of variables and constants and applying this to their own experiments. The students have been getting some interesting results!

Grade 6
The grade 6 students have been understanding chemical solutions and how mixtures can be changed and separated, and how new materials can form when conditions change. We have researched and designed sugar crystal experiments to see how we can form the most interesting sugar crystals.
