From Georgie and Kimalee, Junior School Science teachers

The Molesworth Street Campus Science Room will be open on Thursday 30th October, during the Art Show Exhibitions.
Prep
Preps have been investigating different materials in Science. They watched videos and looked at a range of cotton products as well as feeling a real cotton straight from the plant - still with its seeds. They have also looked at where wool comes from, how it is spun into yarn and what we use it for.

Grade 1
This fortnight in Science, Grade 1s have been investigating the properties of different materials. After looking at a range of sculptures and bridges around Melbourne, students created their own sculptures and discussed which materials were easy to bend, twist and shape. They also measured ‘How far you can stretch a lolly snake’ if it was dry or wet, discussing the physical changes.

Grade 2
Grade 2s have been discussing natural resources, including what Australia is good at producing and which resources are renewable. They have also been investigating recycling and talking about how they recycle at home. They made new paper out of the paper that had been recycled in the Science Room.
