Graffiti........Art or Vandalism?

Writing

During Writing sessions, we have been working on creating advertisements to promote the products we created for our Geography projects. We analysed a range of different advertising techniques and planned our idea by brainstorming and mapping out on a storyboard. Then we set out to produce our ad on Keynote, iMovie or clips. We are looking forward to sharing our learning at our showcase this Friday.

Reading

The past week in reading we have been listening to a Short and Curley podcast about ‘Graffiti or Gallery: When does Graffiti become street art?’ We initially wrote down all our prior knowledge about Graffiti and made some predictions about what might be talked about in the podcast. After, we listened to it and made some text to self or text to world connections from what was said. All of this was then used to create a synthesis on the topic. This is us creating a new understanding about whether Graffiti is seen as art or vandalism. Lastly, we considered the point of view of other people in society, like our parents, artists, tourists and even politicians.

Maths

Over the past week in Maths, we have been strengthening our understanding of multiplication and division. We began by reviewing factors and multiples before expanding our problem-solving strategies. Students explored different methods such as the Area Model and the Grid Method. More recently, we have been practising long division, using fun acronyms like Does McDonald’s Sell Burgers? to make the process more engaging. We also applied our understanding to solve Order of Operations word problems, which were both challenging and enjoyable.
