The 2025 Premier's Spelling Bee State Final
On Friday, 7 November, Richard Li from Solar travelled to the Q Theatre in Penrith to test himself against the best spellers in the state. He competed with humility and aplomb across several intense and riveting rounds, achieving an exceptional result.
Students competing in the state final had advanced through both the school and regional rounds, with the top 32 spellers remaining from over 200,000 students who initially entered the competition. More than 100 schools from across the state were involved. This was the biggest year ever.
The first two rounds consisted of known words from the more challenging lists, before moving on to unseen words in the subsequent rounds. After round two, 20 spellers remained in the competition. Following round three, 15 spellers were still in contention. As the stakes increased, the tension in the theatre was palpable—you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was literally on the edge of their seats.

Student Achievement
We are proud to congratulate Pete on his outstanding accomplishment! Pete participated in the Dolce School of Music Annual Showcase and was awarded the trophy for Outstanding Performance of the Day. He impressed the audience with his beautiful piano rendition of "The Other Side" from The Greatest Showman. Well done, Pete!
