Around the Classrooms

Grade 3/4T
In Inquiry, Grade 3/4T have been exploring the topic of biodiversity and what it means to be a Wildlife Warrior. Students have been investigating a variety of animal species and learnt about the unique features that make each one special to their environment.
As part of our learning, we are also examining the impact humans have on biodiversity and discovering the vital work being done to protect endangered species.
On Monday, we had an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Zoo, where students observed animals up close and connected their understanding to our Inquiry topic. Some highlights of the day included seeing the baby hippos, baby giraffes, and even ‘Ivan’ the gorilla, a fun connection to the main character in our current class novel! Students gathered information about the animals’ habitats and behaviours, which will inspire their upcoming projects on creating more natural and sustainable habitats later this term.
The students are looking forward to applying all they’ve learned to design creative habits and enclosures that support animals and the environment later this term.
