Premiers Reading Challenge

Please note this is a TOTALLY OPTIONAL reading challenge, but we’d LOVE St Margaret Mary’s students to participate!  We have done very well in past years, let's keep it up!

If you accept the challenge, you need to record online all of the books you read.  Below is the link to the Premier’s Reading Challenge:  https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html

  • Students who participate receive an official certificate at the end of the year.

  • After their 4th year, students receive a GOLD AWARD. After 7 years they receive a PLATINUM award.

This continues through High School and in Year 9, students receive a MEDAL.

  • Students need to record online all of the books that are read.

  • Mrs Spela Radomir will help with any Log in issues and will also log books for all the K-2 students. (Books read in class and library).

Tips…….

  • K-2 students can read the books on their own, read them with someone, or have someone can read to them

  • Try searching for ebooks in SORA. There is a collection devoted to the Premier’s Reading Challenge on the ‘explore’ page.

  • You can also choose up to 10 books that are your personal choice ( NOT on PRC list)

  • In an approved series on the PRC booklist, you can read any ten books as PRC books. You can read up to ten other books from the same series as Personal Choice books.

  • Reminder: You can read UP an age group but not DOWN! For example, students in K-2 can also read from the 3-4 and 5-6  lists
