Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

It is hard to believe that the term is ending. We have had a busy time with many exciting events, achievements and great learning happening all throughout the school.

Year 6 Camp

I had the great pleasure of joining our year 6 students at Camp Kangaroobie in Princetown near the 12 Apostles a few weeks back. This is a truly stunning camp that provides significant challenge and opportunity to build resilience along with beautiful memories of friendship and achievement. Congratulations must go to each student for their positive attitude and willingness to try new things. Many thanks to the year 6 staff and Mrs Morrison along with the wonderful parents who also attended the camp.

Year 4 Camp

Last week we welcomed our year 4 students back to Derinya after a fabulous three days at The Ranch in Cape Schank. This camp was jam packed full of adventure and excitement with highlights to include the giant swing, horse riding and mountain boarding to name just a few. The children were spectacular on this camp and are to be congratulated on all that they achieved over the three days. A big shout out to our parent helpers and teachers who did a wonderful job.

Summer Lightning Premiership

Well done to all our fantastic year 6 students who participated in last week’s Summer Lightning Premiership. Congratulations to our girls’ softball and cricket teams who will now progress to the Division competition. It was a wonderful day had by all with exemplary sportsmanship being shown by our students.

World’s Greatest Shave

I am so proud to share that on Sunday, Year 5 student, Luke K participated in the World’s Greatest Shave. As you will know this is a well-known fundraiser, supporting blood cancer research. Luke has raised over $3000 for this cause which is close to his heart and that of our community. Well done Luke!

Derinya Fair

We are all set for our biannual Twilight Fair. Many thanks to our parent representatives and their assistants for their incredible organisation. Thank you also to our community for your generosity in donations of chocolates, lollies and the ever-popular lucky jars.  With a huge number of rides, activities and fabulous food stalls to enjoy we can’t wait for this event to kick off at 3:30pm on Friday. Please note that all students MUST be supervised by a parent to attend the fair. This is an important safety consideration, and your assistance is appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend ahead.

Kind Regards,

Nadine Pye on behalf of the Derinya team.
