Kitchen Garden

The children were extra brave in cooking this fortnight exploring the tastes of India. The dahl may not have been the favourite dish of the term, but everyone is giving new flavours and textures a try and I could not be happier that they are really giving all new experiences a go. I am hearing all about recipes that are being cooked at home and I hope the children are showing you their washing up and tidying skills as well !

We have our first seeds starting to sprout which has been met with huge excitement. Fingers crossed by the time we get back from the holidays our garden beds are looking green and leafy.

Over the holidays our shed is being built and the garden is coming along really nicely, starting to take shape thanks to all the help we have been receiving.

Thanks to everyone that came to the working bee to get so many jobs completed.

A big thank you to families that are sharing bay leaves, lemon myrtle, strawberry plants, rhubarb. We are so very lucky to have so much support.

Wayne and Linda Rogers have been donating huge resources to the school. Our planter boxes will soon be filled with extra produce to supply our cooking. Thank you to Miss Rogers' family for helping us get off to a great start. The planter boxes can be purchased for $25. Please email if you would like to have a go at growing something in your own garden. The planter boxes can be stacked on top of each other or simply sit alone or next to each other. They have a lining and are a perfect size for planting in a smaller garden or not letting something evasive take over your veggie patch, like mint.

This term has flown, we have had a lots of laughs and I am looking forward to next term with lots more delicious dishes to share and hopefully use our own produce soon in our cooking.
