This week students and staff enjoyed the Annual College Social which was a lovely way of finishing the term. My thanks to the main coordinators, Teresa Hickman and Sue Fimmano, but also the kitchen staff and all the staff helpers.
We had a visit from the Year 10 students from WA College of Agriculture - Demark this week, who were on an industry visit tour. It was nice to host our sister College and to be reminded of what a wonderful opportunity all Agricultural Colleges offer thier students.
I hope parents and carers found the interim reports and the staff interviews useful to gauge your child’s progress over the term. Ongoing communication between families and staff about individual student performance is essential for optimising outcomes.
You may be interested to know that 45% of Year 10 families booked interviews, 46% of Year 11 families and 26% of Year 12 families. Of total interviews available, there were 26% booked.
New staff
With Tony Abel leaving us, I welcome Brad Falkingham to the role of Farm Manager for Term Two and Three. Brad has been at the College in the role of Assistant Farm Manager and is well versed in the organisation of the various enterprises. The permanent Farm Manager position will be advertised during Term Three.
Welcome to John Italiano who is joining the Farm until the end of the year. John previously worked for the College and has a wide range of skills across many enterprises. Amongst other things, John will be involved in our Farm workshop.
With Guy Truss leaving us for retirement, Gavin Chester is joining in the Metals and Engineering role. Gavin has big shoes to fill but has the experience and credentials to continue the good work of Guy in the engineering workshop.
Thank you
Thank you Matt Depiazzi and Heidi Armstrong for filling in as Head of Trades and Head of Residence over Term One. Both Matt and Heidi have been highly successful in their respective roles and we are lucky to have such capable staff who can fill in and not just 'keep the seat warm', but make a difference.

Meet Basil (or Brenda) the Western brown bandicoot, also known as a Quenda.
Basil/Brenda lives in the hedges around the admin building and is often seen digging in the garden beds and moving around the footpaths looking for treats. It is lovely to have him/her around given how busy the area is.
Please stay safe over the Easter and ANZAC public holidays. Typically, the roads will be busy, so please look after your young drivers.
Have a great weekend.
