Thank you to every member of the FNPS community for such a wonderful, settled start to 2025. This week has the children showcase the amazing learning that is happening in their classrooms; highlighting the culmination of our first PYP inquiry cycle of the year. I had the wonderful opportunity to speak with so many of you on the day and so many of our families spoke incredibly highly of the open afternoon and how much they enjoyed the opportunity to share in their child/ren’s learning journey. This amazing feedback is a testament to the outstanding commitment our teachers show to their teaching and their learners each and every day and I’m incredibly excited to see where our learning takes us next term and beyond.
Today, we celebrate and honour an extraordinary educator, mentor, and friend—Linda Willshire. With over 40 years of dedication to education, including 25 remarkable years at Fitzroy North Primary School, Linda has left an indelible mark on countless students, colleagues, and families.
Linda’s passion for teaching has always shone through in her unwavering commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in her students. Her classrooms have been a place of discovery, encouragement, and joy; a space where every child felt valued and capable of achieving their best.
Beyond the classroom, Linda’s contributions to our school community have been immeasurable. Whether it was mentoring new teachers, organising school events, or simply offering a listening ear and wise advice, she has been a pillar of support and inspiration. Her kindness, patience, and generosity have made Fitzroy North Primary not just a school, but a family.
As Linda embarks on this well-earned retirement, we know she will continue to bring her warmth, wisdom, and adventurous spirit into whatever comes next. Whether it’s traveling, spending time with loved ones, or embracing new hobbies, we hope she finds as much joy and fulfilment as she has given to all of us.
Linda, your legacy at Fitzroy North Primary will live on in the hearts of the students you've inspired and the colleagues who have had the privilege of working alongside you. Thank you for everything. You will be deeply missed, but your impact will never be forgotten.
Wishing you all the happiness in this new chapter of life—congratulations on your retirement!
As you can see, the Junior Playground continues to manifest before our eyes. Last week, we were advised that we have been successful in securing a $25K grant to install a Shade Sail into the landscape. As a result, the playground works are anticipated to now be complete on Friday 16th May. We can’t wait to share this amazing new space with you all!
Beginning today, VSBA led works will begin on the ramp outside The Hall. The school holidays will see demolition of the current ramp before re-installation works begin. These works are anticipated to be complete at the beginning of Term 3.
I wish you all a safe and restorative Easter break and look forward to seeing you all back in Term 2.
Go gently,
Tania
