Library time in 4A is more than just borrowing books—it’s a chance to develop essential reading skills, engage in meaningful discussions, and build confidence as readers and thinkers. Each session, students apply strategies learned in class, such as identifying text features, determining the main idea, and making inferences, to deepen their understanding of texts.
As they explore both fiction and non-fiction, students practise recognising headings, captions, and diagrams to enhance comprehension. They also engage in discussions, sharing thoughtful book critiques, debating plot twists, and analysing key themes. Their book reviews highlight their growing ability to think critically and express their ideas.
4A students absolutely love their library sessions, making the most of every moment—whether diving into exciting new stories, discussing favourite characters, or recommending their top reads. By connecting their reading choices to classroom learning, they are developing into independent learners who think, question, and explore beyond the pages of a book. Keep an eye out for their top recommendations—you might just discover your next great read!
Aarav: I read the book Brave to the whole class during library. The message of the story is that bravery can happen anywhere and at any time.
Rey: I am reading the graphic novel Amulet. It's about a character named Emily who finds a shining emerald amulet that gives her special powers.
Evie: I am reading The Mysteries by Enid Blyton. It’s about five kids who call themselves the Five Find-Outers, and they solve mysteries on their own. The local policeman gets annoyed with them for solving the mysteries before him.
Nethmi: I have chosen The Diary of a Wimpy Kid and The Babysitters Club. I wanted to try a new book that I found interesting because I like comics.
Pratham: I have re-borrowed Totally Origami because I find making origami interesting, and I wanted to make more this week. Some are really challenging.
Thehan: I have borrowed three books this week. I chose them because they are a good fit for me.
