Parents' and Carers' Assoc

The Parents’ and Carers’ Association had our final meeting for the term on Thursday. It was lovely to reflect on the events of this term and the ways in which we can continue to bring our school and parent communities together in Term Two.

Parents commented how enjoyable and lovely the school events have been this term, especially Harmony Night and Athletics Days. These were wonderful opportunities for families and children to  connect and spend quality time with one another.

In response to parent requests for Information Nights, the school will be running an InitiaLit information session on Monday, April 28. During Education Week we will lead an exploration into Student Wellbeing, Voice and Agency at Mitcham Primary School where we hope to share the many ways we value this important aspect of student life at MPS. A Numeracy Workshop will be held early Term 3.

There has been interest from many parents about putting together a night without their children. So keep your eyes out for information in the first few weeks of next term - but it seems like you might want to get ready for a fun night of trivia and laughs!

Many parents also expressed a desire to have activity afternoons with their kids at school. If this is something you are interested in, please reach out to your Year Level’s Parent Co-ordinator with any ideas you may have and we can work together to make that happen.

For those families who enjoy spending time at school after 3:30, please know that you are welcome to supervise your children playing on the school grounds - you will just have to make your way out via the Tirana St exit afterwards, please just remember to close the gate behind you.

After assemblies next term, parents and carers are also welcome to make their way up to connect and spend time together over a coffee or tea in the staffroom following all school assemblies on Friday mornings.

A reminder that if any parents would like to support the Specialist Program to please email Caitlin Kolokathis - especially if you are good with sewing/creating props for Production!

A further reminder for all parents that, should you wish to arrange a year level gathering or get-together, the school is more than happy to publish this event via Compass or the Newsletter for you.
