STARTING SECONDARY SCHOOL IN 2026

T1 2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

The starting Secondary School in 2026 process will begin early in Term 2.

The first step in this process is to please make sure we have your most current details on file such as any change of residential address and/or email addresses for one or both parents.

Please advise any changes of your family details to the school by responding to this email

OR via email at dl.1066.info@schools.sa.edu.au

If you are notifying of a change of address, one of the following documents are required:

  • a recent council rates notice-if you own your home
  • a rental agreement that covers the first 12 months-if you are renting
  • a recent gas or electricity bill for the property

Listed below are some helpful hints from The Department for Education’s Website to help you with the Transition process. Please click on the link below (highlighted in blue) for further information on that subject:

  • Use the find a school tool to work out your zoned or local school.
  • You're encouraged to visit your local secondary school and other schools you may be interested in. The High Schools school website and department’s open days and principal tours page will list dates for open days and tours.
  • Make sure your Primary School has your current email address and child’s residential address. If you aren't sure, contact your Primary School.
  • For separated parents, if your child is living between 2 households, agree with the child’s other parent which home address will be used, as this will determine the child’s zoned school. We will need proof of address to make any changes to our system.
  • If your child is in care, start discussing school options with your case worker and Student Support Services.
  • If your child identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, consider the Enter for Success strategy and start discussions now.
  • If your child is interested in applying for a special interest program, contact the secondary school or visit their website for the application form and process. See list of high schools with special interest or specialist programs.
  • If your child is applying for a Special Educations Option (a special class, disability unit or special school), you are still required to complete the registration of interest form.

If you have any queries, please contact Lee at school on 83823824.

More information regarding the High School Transition process will be emailed to parents/carers early next term.

Kind Regards,

Lee Clements
