Year 1/2
The Year 1/2 students have been learning all about the work architects and engineers do after reading 'Iggy Peck Architect' and 'Rosie Revere Engineer' by the author Andrea Beaty.
They learnt about the three main types of bridges, beam, suspension and truss bridges by identifying examples around the world. They were then challenged to design and construct one type of bridge which could hold 3 students (paper cut outs). Their bridges were made out of limited materials and had to span between 30-40cm in width.
Year 6
The Year 6 students got the opportunity to share their work with the Year 4s. Students worked in groups to research a biome around the world. They then created posters and used the Scratch coding platform and a Makey Makey circuit to make their posters voice activated on touch. It was wonderful to see the Year 4 students interacting with the projects and asking interesting questions to find out more about how the Year 6 students made the posters.
