From the Principal Class Team

Dear MRC Community,

Welcome back to Term 4. Although we are only at the end of Week 3, our students have already been involved in a diverse range of activities across the College, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to learning.

Year 12

Earlier this week, our Year 12 students concluded their formal classes and celebrated the end of their secondary schooling with a series of memorable events. The celebrations included an assembly, a shared lunch, a colour clash, and a fun-filled day at Funfields.

Our students participated with great spirit, creating lasting memories and finishing their journey on a high note. We extend our sincere thanks to all staff who contributed to making this a truly special week and to everyone who has supported our Year 12s throughout their time at MRC.

As they prepare to take their next steps, we encourage all students to remain in touch with our Pathways Team for ongoing support in exploring employment and further education opportunities.

VCAA Exams

SWOTVAC is currently underway (22–27 October), with staff providing dedicated support to help our Year 12 students prepare for their final exams.

The VCAA examinations officially begin next week, starting with the English exam on 28th October. This marks an important milestone, and we wish every student success as they complete their assessments.

Japan Sister School and Cultural Immersion Tour

A highly successful Japanese Sister School and Immersion Tour recently returned. Sixteen students and four staff members travelled to Japan from 15 September – 1 October, spending a week in homestay and participating in an educational exchange at Akatsuki Junior High School, our sister school.

The group then embarked on a 9-day tour, exploring Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Nara, and Tokyo. Throughout the trip, students embraced every opportunity to learn, connect, and grow—representing our college and their families with maturity and pride. Their exceptional behaviour was praised by our hosts and the broader community. The students have returned with cherished memories, a deeper global perspective, and a strengthened sense of independence.

ESP Awards and Gala Day

This week, we celebrated the achievements of our Elite Sports Program (ESP) students at the annual ESP Awards. Two ceremonies were held—one for our Year 7–8 junior athletes and another for our Year 9–12 senior students and their families. It was a wonderful occasion to recognise the many accomplishments of 2025. Thank you to all families, students, and staff who made the afternoon and evening such a memorable success.

To round out the celebrations, the ESP program concluded the year with its annual Gala Day. Students proudly represented their houses in vibrant colours, with plenty of tutus, face paint, and team spirit on display. The day also featured visits from professional athletes representing NBL1, Melbourne Victory, and Calder Cannons, who shared insights into elite sporting pathways and opportunities—an inspiring experience for all involved.

Road Safety

We’d like to take this opportunity to remind all students, parents, and staff of the importance of road and pedestrian safety around the College. Please remember to:

  • Use all designated crossings and follow the instructions of crossing supervisors.
  • Stay alert when driving or walking near the College.
  • Look carefully before crossing the road.

Staff are on duty from 8:40 am to 3:20 pm each day to supervise students before and after school. We ask families to consider these times when arranging drop-offs and pick-ups.

A reminder that the rear gate on Aitken Boulevard will continue to close at the end of each school day in response to ongoing traffic safety concerns.

The speed limit around the College is 40km/h—please drive safely and help keep our community secure.

2026 Booklists, Parent Payments, and Scholarships

Booklists for Years 7–12 and Parent Payment Arrangements for Prep–Year 12 are now available on Compass.

Applications for 2026 Scholarships are also open. All students are welcome to apply—application forms can be downloaded from Compass or collected from any Mini School Administration Office.

We hope you’ve had a positive start to the term and wish everyone a safe and restful weekend.
