Students will need to bring their lunch to eat on Kitchen Garden days this week.
This week in Respectful Relationships students will explore what makes them similar and different from others and will learn that people of any gender can be similar and/or different. Students will learn that it is okay to have different interests from their peers.
In CBL we will research the geography of Australia together and then students will research a country from Africa using the same format and present their findings. You could ask your child what they have discovered about their country.
Students will be doing revision of division this week, solving problems with multiple strategies. We will also be learning about ‘time’ this week, as it is about time we consolidated our understanding of both analogue and digital time. Please encourage your child to identify the time in home situations and to utilise Mathletics for revision.
We will be looking at logical connectives in our grammar focus and persuasive devices as we continue our work on persuasive writing. Students will be working hard on their handwriting and typing skills as they write and all students will be completing timed writes each week for the remainder of the year. You could pose a debate style question and have a family discussion about the pro’s and con’s of the issue.
We are reading Kensuke’s Kingdom Chapter 9 this week, focusing on identifying the main idea and summarising the chapter. As we are coming to the end of the book, please ensure you complete the permission for your child to view the movie of the text. We will be comparing the book to the movie and considering the differences between them and why the director/script writer may have made changes to the original text. At home our child may like to summarise the story so far and make predictions about the ending which we will read next week.
