Term 3 wrap-up
Ms Mia Blignaut, Sports Coordinator (Senior School)
Both our 1st Grade Netball and 1st Grade Soccer teams qualified for the Southern SATIS finals, just falling short against strong GYC opposition. We commend all players for their valiant efforts and determination. Remarkably, more than half of our 1st Grade Soccer team were Year 8 students, which means the future is looking very good for SMC Soccer! We would like to thank Adrian Morrisby, who did a fantastic job as coach.
Our Year 7 Basketball teams also showed great improvement each week, with SMC 7 Green making it all the way to the Division 2 final against a very strong Sacred Heart College team. Thank you to Aaron Ratcliffe, Linda Brinckman and Belinda Witter for their time and support in coaching the teams!
In addition, our two Year 7/8 Hockey teams had fun and learnt a lot of new skills along the way. Thank you to Dave Wakefield, Sarah Thomas (Year 11) and Imogen Stewart (Year 10) who coached the teams!
Swimming
Our swimmers demonstrated great commitment and gave their absolute best effort in the pool. Many also showed true SMC spirit by volunteering for extra races and even stepping up into higher age groups to support the team when needed.
A special thank you goes to our Swimming Co-Captains, Bella Carter and Laine Debnam (Year 11), for their leadership and encouragement, as well as to Ms Selena Eaves for her support of the team. We now look forward to Term 4 sport and some summer vibes!
