Welcome to Term 3!

Welcome to Term 3 – A Term of Deep Learning and Opportunities

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope all families had a restful and enjoyable break. As we step into the second half of the school year, students return with a fresh sense of energy and curiosity. Term 3 is often a time of noticeable growth, both academically and personally, as students continue to build on their knowledge and apply their skills in more complex and meaningful ways. This term will offer a wonderful balance of focused classroom learning, collaborative experiences and whole school events that enrich the learning journey. With routines well established, students are encouraged to take more ownership of their learning, engage deeply with new ideas and support one another as active members of our school community.

As part of our continued academic journey, students will be encouraged to think critically, make connections across learning areas and build confidence in their ideas. In Reading, we will be further diving into Literature Circles and deepening our comprehension skills. In Writing, students will be exploring biographies and memoirs, looking closely at the ways writers share real life experiences. In Mathematics, we will be learning more about fractions, decimals, location, angles and measurement. Our Inquiry learning will focus on the question: How does the media shape how we see ourselves? Wellbeing lessons will continue through our focus on Cyber Safety and The Resilience Project.

This term is also filled with exciting events and learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Students will take part in Athletics Day, the School Production, and a range of academic competitions including the ICAS assessments, the Australian Maths Competition and Maths Olympiad. We are also looking forward to our excursion to ACMI, the District Athletics Carnival and a valuable Cyber Safety and Anti Bullying incursion. Some students will also be involved in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

With so much to look forward to, Term 3 promises to be a meaningful and memorable part of the school year. We encourage families to check Compass regularly for updates and event reminders. We are excited for another wonderful term of learning, growth and community.
