August Keystone

"Respect"

Dear families,

What a lovely celebration we had for book week on Friday last week. There were some amazing costumes and the children in Years Foundation to Year 4 enjoyed a fun incursion too.

We also congratulate all our Year 6 students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday 16th August. Thanks to Fr Joseph who stepped in for the bishop and celebrated this special occasion with our children and their families. Thanks also to Andrew and the 5/6 team for organising the event and preparing the students so well.

Enormous thanks to Gina in the library for organising another wonderful book fair. The money raised from the book fair helps us to buy books for the library, so thank-you to all the families who came along and bought some books.

I will be away from school for all of Week 8, the 8th - 12th September as I will be participating in the MACS Flourishing Learners Conference on Monday and Tuesday with seven St Mark's staff members and then I am off to Year 5 camp with the 5/6 team on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

Our final newsletter for the term will be published at the beginning of Week 9 rather than Week 8.

FATHERS' DAY BREAKFAST AND STALL:

Don't forget to get on to CDFpay to order your Fathers' Day Breakfast and get your tokens for your children to purchase items at the Fathers' Day stall.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS:

Good luck to all those students in Years 3 - 6 who will be representing St Mark's at the district athletics carnival on Tuesday 2nd September. Thanks to Miss Amerena for training the students before school and at lunchtime and snack times.

CHILD SAFETY REMINDER:

Unfortunately there are still children being left unattended at the school gates prior to 8.30 a.m. Can I please remind all families that this is not a safe practice and children should not be at school prior to 8.30 a.m. regardless of whether they are being dropped off by car or making their own way to school on their bike or on foot. We all need to take responsibility for the safety of our children. School gates are not supervised until 8.30 a.m. when staff are officially due on site.

Thanks for your co-operation and for taking appropriate measures to ensure your children are safe. If you need to drop your child at school prior to 8.30 a.m. we have a before school care program run by Team Kids that is available for you to utilise. Please see the Team Kids page in this newsletter for details on how to book in to the program.
