2/3E Explores Stories, Shapes and Sentences

The students of 2/3E have been busily engaging in all areas of our curriculum. The year 2s have been delighted by the stories and Lands of the Magic Faraway Tree, and are preparing their own text to express which Land they would prefer to take an excursion to. Meanwhile, the year three students have explored all the elements of the PEEL paragraph (P for oPinion) to express a preference and opinion about their favourite thing to do and why.“I loved learning about high modality words and how to make my sentences sound more interesting” said HL. “It’s been fantasta-mazing!” quipped GB & EW.

We had the pleasure of welcoming UQ pre-service teacher, Mrs Rani Morrison to our classroom while the Y4s were on camp, and what a wonderful experience it was for her to witness the day-to-day teaching of a composite Year 2/3 class!

Our Year 2s have explored objects and classified shapes and have learned to measure and compare length, mass and capacity.

The classroom is always full of opportunities and it is a privilege to watch these students develop and grow.

Young Hands Fold for Peace

Hi everyone,

With less than 9 weeks before the Japan Study Tour takes flight, we are embarking on the massive task of folding Senbazuru – one thousand origami cranes. These will be taken to Japan by our wonderful Year 5 and 6 students and offered as a mark of respect at the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima.

This is a beautiful and meaningful tradition that symbolises hope and a wish for peace. It’s inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl affected by the atomic bombing, whose legacy continues to inspire peace efforts around the world.

We’d love for as many students as possible to contribute to this special project. Even a single crane makes a difference!

The details

Who: Year 3-6 students

What: Origami Club

Thanks for your support,

Jessica Faithfull | 3C Classroom Teacher.

☀️ No Hat, No Play

We are noticing an increasing number of students arriving at PE lessons without a hat. Our spare hat supply is very limited.

Please ensure your child brings their own clearly named hat to school every day. Hats are an important part of our SunSmart policy and are required for outdoor activities, including PE.

Thank you for helping us keep our students safe in the sun.
