Principal's Message

Term 3, Week 7

Hi Everyone,

We are celebrating our Support Staff this week  -  our Office Staff, Education Support Officer’s, School’s Officer, IT Officer, Cleaners, Crossing Supervisors and Tuckshop staff.  These people are the backbone of our school and we are enormously thankful for them!  Have an extra great week team!

The Year 4 camp was a great time, despite the rain!!  What a great group of children year 4 are and such a pleasure to spend time with.  I was so impressed with the way they handled themselves on their first school camp!  Thank you to the Noosa Northshore Total Adventures team, where we stayed, they were wonderful hosts!  Huge THANK YOU to our Year 4 team for organising the camp and being there every step of the way  -  Mr Bierhuizen, Mr Shepherd, Mrs Donaldson, Mr Vayo, Mr Tait, Mr Wenzell-Halls, Mrs Ballantyne and our fearless leader; Mr Corbett!  Thank you also to Mrs Griffin, who did a sterling job leading the school in my absence.  It was a wonderful experience and one I am sure the kids will not forget!

Year 4 have also been getting to experience the Towards Zero Waste excursion to enhance their learning.  Thank you to our dedicated teachers for organising this great opportunity.

Down in Year 2, the wonderful teachers organised an opportunity to step back in time with the Wolston Farmhouse excursion to take their knowledge and understanding to a new level  -  thank you Year 2 team!

Congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 Debating Team who did an outstanding job at the Queensland Debating competition last week, I was so sad I wasn’t there!  Mrs Griffin was thankfully there in my place and said the teams were so impressive.  Mr James Tait, their coach, was on the Year 4 Camp and is so proud!  Well done kids!

It was great to connect with my principal colleagues in our Collaborative School Improvement catch up last week.  It was excellent getting to see what the host school Indooroopilly SS was doing in reading across their school and I look forward to future collaborations.

We also had our early career teachers receive more professional development last week, which was generously supported by the Education Futures Institute.  It is wonderful that our teachers have these opportunities to be continuously extending their knowledge and expertise.

Congratulations to all of our children who received a Merit certificate at the P-3 assembly; we are proud of you!

Thank you to the Junior Strings who were the entertainment at assembly, I am sorry I missed it but I hear you just keep getting better and better!  Next week at our 4-6 Merit assembly we have the Year 1 Choir performing, how exciting!
