Class Items
5/6 Taylor
Last week 5/6 Taylor showcased their scientific inquiry into the properties of states of matter and the fascinating ways matter changes from one state to another. Our students have engaged in a variety of hands-on experiments that brought these concepts to life.
The class investigated solids, liquids, and gases by manipulating everyday items such as shaving cream and ice blocks, observing how each behaved in different conditions. They explored the movement of steam and condensation in the air, developing a deeper understanding of the gas state.
One of the highlights was making ice cream and jelly, providing a delicious demonstration of how matter changes state through freezing and setting, which we were then able to share with our special guests during education week.
Culminating their learning, students presented their findings at last week’s school assembly with small groups sharing interesting facts and providing examples of the six different changes between states of matter, which are melting, freezing, condensation, evaporation, sublimation, and deposition.
This engaging project not only enhanced students’ scientific knowledge but also encouraged teamwork and public speaking skills, making it a memorable learning experience for all involved!
