Camp Recounts - The Briars, 2026

We started camp with a 50 minute bus ride to the Briars Education Camp. It was a long but fun and exciting bus ride.

When we got there, we were kindly met by our leaders. My leader was called Dylan.

Then we had morning tea. We had a piece of fruit and cordial. It was delicious.

We started with the Giant Swing. It was so much fun. We launched ourselves 16 metres up. It was my favorite activity.

Then we did the leap of faith. It was the hardest one but I managed to do it to level 4 which is the maximum level.

We had a burger with custom meats and veggies.

Then we came back to school on the bus.

The next day, we went on the bus and had morning tea when we arrived.

Then we did Bush Craft with your group to make a mini hut using branches, sticks, logs, planks and ropes.

Then we did the Flying Fox which was really fast and exciting.

We had a hotdog and muffins for lunch.

We said goodbye and left to go back to school.

I think the Bush Crafting was the best because we got to be in a team and my team members were William and David Fan. The aim of the game was to see which shelter was the best to live in.

Briars Day Camp was super super fun. There were so many fun activities. I loved all of the activities. The food was the best. On Monday we had burgers/rolls and on Tuesday we had hotdogs!

My favourite activity was the Leap of Faith. You climbed up a really tall pole until you reached the first stage, second stage or third stage. Then you jumped off, but you had a harness on. I went to the highest stage. It was really hard and scary to climb but I wasn't scared to jump off. You could try touching the balloon if you could jump that high.

My second favourite activity was the Giant Swing. You climbed up a ladder with a harness on. Then everyone had to pull you up until you said stop. Everyone pulled me to the very top. Then you had a choice.  You could tell them to say 3 2 1 then let go, or you could let it be a surprise. I chose surprise. Then they let go and you went soaring into the air. It was not a small swing. It looked like it was about at least 20 metres high.

My third favourite activity was the Flying Fox. You put your harness on and flew. It wasn't that scary for me. I got to have a second go. The staff member pushed me as hard as she could (I Think) and there was a tyre to stop us from crashing into the pole. I barely whacked the tire.

My fourth favourite activity was Bushcraft. We built a hut to live in. Some of the sticks were really heavy. In the end, we built a really successful hut (according to me).

I also REALLY loved the food. It was a lot of food even for firsts. On Monday we had Rolls/burgers. On Tuesday we had Hot dogs.

The bus rides were about 1 hour long. Ms Banks played songs on her speaker that we got to choose. Somebody put the duck song on.
