Specialists Updates and Celebrations

Messages from our Specialist team (P.E., Art, Music and Mandarin) and Library...

Mandarin

In Weeks 1–5, all students from Prep to Year 6 are taking part in Mandarin Studies, building their confidence in speaking and listening.

From Weeks 6–10, students will explore a range of engaging topics across the year levels.

Prep students will enjoy learning through songs and movement in the Old MacDonald unit, focusing on farm animals and their sounds.

Year 1–2 students will explore animals and their habitats, while Year 3–4 students will describe and compare animals of their choice.

In Years 5 and 6, students will investigate endangered animals and present their learning through a bilingual poster.

Visual Art

This term in Visual Art, all year levels will complete two units of work.

The first unit is International Cultural Art Studies. In this unit, students will explore the culture, history, and most importantly, the art of five different countries: France, Egypt, Thailand, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

Students will create artworks inspired by different art forms found in each of these countries. This unit is all about celebrating cultures from around the world, which is especially meaningful in our wonderfully multicultural school community. Diversity is something to be celebrated, and we are excited to see the fantastic artworks students create!

The second unit will be Aboriginal Australian Art Studies. These two units connect beautifully, as students first celebrate diverse cultures from around the world, and then focus on celebrating the rich culture of the land on which we learn.

Aboriginal Australian art is incredibly meaningful and beautiful. Each year, students love learning about traditional Aboriginal art, as well as the styles and techniques that continue to be used today.
