Class Celebrations

Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...

Prep

Exciting things are already happening this term with the Preps starting to play out on the forecourt at Lunch! Everyone has loved swinging on the equipment and playing new games with new friends. The Preps have done a wonderful job displaying our school values of Community and Character; treating each other with respect and kindness when playing. We are continuously impressed with the energy and enthusiasm the Preps bring to all aspects of school. We can’t wait to see more incredible friendships developing throughout Term 2!

Year 1

Our Year 1 students have had a fantastic start to Term 2, showing great enthusiasm and curiosity in their learning. This term in English, we have begun exploring different habitats around the world with the help of a friendly character, Rattenborough! So far, we have investigated the Arctic Tundra, Desert, and Savanna Grasslands. As part of this unit, students created detailed drawings that reflect their understanding of each environment, including its climate, landscape, and the animals that live there. We are very proud of their effort and look forward to seeing their learning continue to grow.

Year 2

This term, our Year 2 students are participating in a shared Passion Project centered around the theme of creation, providing opportunities to explore creativity through a range of engaging, hands-on experiences.

Last week, each of the four classes began with a different creative activity, including playdough creations, step-by-step drawing, origami, and chalk art. Students approached their tasks with enthusiasm and creativity, and it was wonderful to see them so engaged in their learning.

Across the term, classes will rotate through each activity, ensuring all students have the opportunity to experience every form of creation. We look forward to seeing their confidence, skills, and creativity continue to grow.

Year 3

In Science, our Year 3 students have 'bean' further developing their knowledge of plant and animal life cycles. They placed bean seeds into Ziplock bags and will watch them grow over the coming weeks. The students even got to name their seeds! We are excited to watch them grow and see the bean life cycle come to life.

Year 4

This week in English, students have been highly engaged with our new class novel, Podkin One-Ear. They brought the story to life through drama by working in groups to create freeze frames of key moments. Students explained what was happening in their scene, explored how the characters were feeling, and carefully showed these ideas using their bodies and facial expressions. Year 4 students have also been building their vocabulary, learning new and interesting words such as warren, burrow, inhabitants, and legend. They developed their visualisation skills, using the author’s descriptions to picture what the Gorm looks like. We can't wait to see what happens next!

Year 5

Term 2 has started with great enthusiasm and energy from our Year 5 students! They've returned from the break refreshed and ready to learn, showing fantastic focus and a positive attitude in the classroom. Students should be proud of their efforts at our SMPS Cross Country, where they showed perseverance and our school value of Community by cheering eachother on. Students have been very excited to start our new Science topic about endangered animals. They are greatly enjoying learning about what we can do to help animals at risk of becoming extinct and are working towards our Endangered Animals Expo later in the term. Year 5 students should be proud of their fantastic start to Term 2!

Year 6

Year 6 students finished our first week back to school on a high by participating in Cross Country Trials at Albert Park Lake. We were so proud to see all students trying their best and supporting one another along the way. Miss Emily and Miss Megan even got to join the students for a run while Miss Taylah was there to congratulate each finisher at the end. Well done to everyone for having a go and congratulations to those students who have qualified for Districts!
