Specialist's Say

Sadly, our chicken hatching project did not result in any chickens hatching. Whilst this is disappointing, it provided the opportunity to investigate why this might have happened and things that we could do differently when we try next time. We are certain that there was life in at least one of the eggs until the late stages but there were no signs of the chick trying to hatch, so it remains a bit of a mystery!

In happier news, the Grade 2s are successfully growing a sunflower indoors! It is currently a very long sprout. We have transferred it to a larger pot and we can't wait to see if it continues to grow indoors in these colder months.

The Grade 6s have had mushroom growing success with one of the boxes beginning to sprout a nice little crop! The Grade 6s also baked bread this week to learn all about yeast, which belongs to the same kingdom as mushrooms and mould, the fungi kingdom.
