Message Stick
To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Ballarat Diocese, five Message Sticks were gifted to carry the message to:
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12).
Today we celebrated the arrival of one of five Message Sticks that will be travelling across our Diocese in honour of 150 years. These Message Sticks are being carried from school to school to remind us of the inter-connectedness of all our school communities - from the Murray to the Sea.
In Aboriginal culture, Message Sticks were passed between different clans and language groups to establish information and transmit messages. They were often used to invite neighbouring groups to corroborees, initiation ceremonies, right of entry to country and invitation to religious rituals.
Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation
Next Thursday, June 20th, there will be two opportunities to enroll your child to undertake the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation at a parent information session. These will be held in the church foyer at 4pm and 7pm. Children must be in Grade 3 or older and have already undertaken Baptism and Reconciliation to be able to participate. It is an expectation that if you are unable to attend the meeting, you contact Father Michael at the parish to organise enrolment. The preparation masses will begin next term and the celebration masses will be on the weekend of August 24th and 25th.
Prayer Gathering
There will be no Prayer Gathering tomorrow. Next week both Grade 6 classes will lead us in prayer.
