Food Technology & Textiles
Welcome back to Design and Technology classes! We have had a great start in both Food and Textiles.
Our Year 7 textiles students have begun their Supermarket Stitch project and are experimenting with hand embroidery techniques. They have already shown excellent skills, and I anticipate some incredible replica food products on the horizon. Our Year 9 have been researching and investigating the world of fast fashion and the ethics behind it, alongside preparing for their first project, making a pair of shorts or pants.
Our Year 8 and 9 students have been honing their knife skills in Food Technology, focusing on safe practices, hygiene, and advanced cutting techniques for future practical sessions.
Year 9 students have specifically been working on transforming carrots and apples into a minimum of three different cuts (slices, batons, matchsticks, julienne, small, and medium dice). They have also been introduced to our Australian Cuisine Curriculum, where we explore the essence of our cuisine, leading into an Indigenous topic. Students will design their own Indigenous Burger using native ingredients.
If you would like any of the recipes we are using in school, please get in touch with one of our Food Technology teachers.
