Mr Jim Noble, Assistant Head of College - Boarding
As I write this newsletter, many of the boarders have packed up and are making their way home for a well deserved holiday. It has been a very busy Term 2, full of academic, sporting and many other activities. I’d like to thank the boys for the enthusiasm and commitment they have shown throughout. And of course, none of these activities would be possible without the dedication and expertise of so many Marist staff members who ensure that our boarders have much to look forward to each and every week.
We are blessed to have a very positive community within boarding and I would like to wish all our boarders, families and staff a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Mr Blair Whitlock
The final weekend of the term was fairly quiet on the rec front with many of the boarders heading home early. Term 2 is always lighter on the recreation with the majority of the boys entrenched in their Football and Rugby seasons throughout the term. The Term 2 Boarding Recreation calendar gets busier and there are many exciting activities on the horizon like the Emerald 7s trip, Kokoda Challenge, City vs Country Match and Night on the Green to name a few! A more detailed calendar will be sent out at the start of term three to aid with any weekend planning.
Friday kicked off with the final boarders aro feast of the term which is always a great start to the weekend. Thanks very much to Tanya Roberts, Nicole Maye and all the generous Marist parents who help make these a regular activity in boarding. We made the most of the gym and weights room on Friday night before settling into the dorms for some Friday night Footy. Saturday the term three sport trials for Basketball and Rugby League take place with many boarders having a crack. The ice baths were out after trials with plenty of boys getting their recovery process started via an icy plunge! We had a morning Mass on Sunday before heading down to Southbank for a couple of hours on what was a beautiful day. It’s always nice heading down to Southbank and having a look around the markets where the boys find all sorts of interesting things. It was early afternoon by the time we got back to Marist and many of the boys enjoyed a quiet, relaxed afternoon as they prepared for the final couple days of term. Enjoy the holidays and we’ll see you all in a couple of weeks!
