Year 5-10 Semester 1 Report Cards

Well done to all students for completing Semester 1. On Friday afternoon this week, Semester One Report Cards for Years 5-10 will be released in the Parent Portal and on Student Café. These reports contain important information on achievement, learning behaviours, position in the cohort as well as pastoral, instrumental, and boarding feedback. As usual, an email will be sent to parents when reports are made live on Friday afternoon.

In addition to report cards, assessment task feedback for all subjects is also available on both the Parent Portal and Student Café. This is targeted feedback provided by each teacher on the strengths and weaknesses of each summative task submitted. Please take time to discuss this feedback with your son.

External Assessment Invigilators – Applications Now Open

Invigilators play an important role in promoting public confidence in the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system and ensuring that proper and fair administrative procedures are implemented.

The QCAA appoints members of the Queensland community as invigilators to observe and report on the administration of assessments. The invigilator role is independent; they are appointed to supervise proper administration of the assessments, not to supervise students or assist with any administration or assessment set-up tasks.

External assessment in 2024 will run from Monday 21 October to Tuesday 12 November. Invigilator duties and eligibility requirements are detailed in the Position description: External assessment invigilator available at www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/senior/assessment/external/assessment/qcaa-invigilators

Year 11 2025 SET Plan interviews

Last week, parents of current Year 10 students received an email with information about booking in for SET Plan interviews which will be held this Friday 14 June and Monday 8 July (Monday of Week 1, Term 3). These meetings allow the review of your son’s subjects for senior school and the opportunity to change any selections if needed. If you have any questions about SET Plans or subject selection, please contact curriculum@marash.qld.edu.au

Year 9 Performance and Pathway Conversations

Our Year 9 boys will receive further information about Year 10 subject selection in Year 9 ASH next week. These PowerPoint slides, along with the Handbook, will be emailed home to students and parents. We encourage our Year 9 students to go over these slides and Handbook to consider what subjects would be best suited for your son in Year 10. These will then be discussed at their Performance and Pathway Conversations next term.

Here are some key dates for our Year 9 students:

  • Term 3: Week 1 – Wednesday 10th July: Subject Selection Platform opens (for one week)
  • Term 3: Week 3-5: Performance and Pathway Interviews (parents welcome) to select subjects for Year 10. These will be booked through the Parent Portal in the first weeks of next term.

More information will be provided to students via the Academic Care Team early in Term 3.

To best prepare for this, please have a look at the Subject Handbook here.
