Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust families were able to make the most of the Long Weekend together. The extra day gave me a longer break to travel to Bendigo and celebrate my Dad’s 88th birthday, so this was good timing and a happy family occasion. I do hope you were able to also enjoy some precious time with family and friends.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART Our Feast Day was a great success last Friday. Fr Michael celebrated Mass in our Multi-purpose Room from 10:00am where we reflected upon the practical ways in which we can show love to each other. The volume of donations that come in from our generous families was a very practical way of demonstrating this practical love. All donations have been donated to 'Vinnies Winter Appeal'.  The children enjoyed a tabloid Sports morning and then enjoyed our own (mini) 'Big Freeze' which the Grade 6 children had organised. Congratulations and thank you to both students and (particularly) staff who participated. A great cause.

Please note our school has launched its 'official' Facebook page. Lots of photos of Friday’s fun there. Here is the link Sacred Heart Colac

ASSESSMENT CONVERSATIONS Teachers have been hard at work writing reports which will be distributed at the upcoming Assessment Conversations which begin on Friday. These interviews should be booked through our PAM platform. These meetings are an important part of our Reporting program where the children are invited to attend for part of the meeting to help reflect on the year so far and to set some goals for the second half of 2024.

Assessment conversations will begin this Friday and run throughout next week. Please check the timetable for your child(ren)’s availability. If you cannot find a time that you can make, please call our office and we will do our best to accommodate you.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM Our Grade 3 Catholic students are invited to be part of our Parish program of preparation for the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion. These sacraments are a very important milestone in our children’s spiritual and family lives. I would urge all families considering enrolling children in the program to make it a priority in your family, get in contact with Godparents and extended family so that they might join you in what is an important family occasion as we share our traditions and our faith with our kids.

The Information Night for parents is on June 20th, while the sacraments will be celebrated over the weekend of August 24th & 25th.
